Burdwan Blast: Court sends three accused to NIA custody

West Bengal, Oct 13 (ANI): A city court on Monday remanded the three accused in the Burdwan blast to NIA custody till October 22. The accused were till now in the custody of CID. The NIA had appealed for14 days' custody of the accused citing the gravity of the incident and investigation into the conspiracy angle. However, the judge granted 10 days custody, stating that the court would give further decision on extending the custody after considering the developments till October 22. The blast had taken place at Khagragarh in Burdwan district and was being probed by the state CID initially. However, the Centre decided to hand over the probe, in which the role of terror groups was suspected, to the NIA. Oct 13, 2014

Quetta/ Geneva, Oct 13: When Muslims across the world were celebrating Eid al Adha on October 6, family members of Baloch missing persons were protesting on the streets of Quetta. The demonstration by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons was against the enforced disappearances and killing of Baloch political activists by Pakistani forces. The incidents of enforce disappearances and extra-judicial killings of Baloch people continue to remain rampant in Balochistan. According to the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, some 20,000 Baloch have gone missing since 2001. It alleges that over 4,000 Baloch activists are murdered in custody or target killed by the army. Faiz Baluch, the human rights activist and member of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons said those who are missing or killed by Pakistan forces were the peace loving people. TMC alleges BJP and CPI (M) hand in Burdwan blast

Kolkata/ New Delhi, Oct 06 (ANI): Trinamool Congress party alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and CPI (M) could be behind the bomb blast in Burdwan district during the popular Hindu festival of Durga Puja in West Bengal. Addressing media persons, TMC General Secretary Mukul Roy said the possibility of the BJP and CPI (M) leaders committing such crimes to disturb the peaceful situation in Bengal cannot be ruled out. Two women were arrested and remanded to police custody for two weeks on Sunday in connection with the explosion that left two suspected militants dead. The crime branch of West Bengal police is looking into the possible involvement of terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba and Harkat-ul Jihadi al-Islami in the blast which left two suspected terrorists dead. Wives of suspected militants in Burdwan blast case arrested for enquiry

Burdwan/ New Delhi, Oct 05 (ANI): Two women were arrested and remanded to police custody for two weeks in connection with the explosion at Khagragarh area of Burdwan that left two suspected militants dead. Rajira Bibi is the widow of suspected militant Shakil Ahmed, who was killed in the explosion in a house at Khagragarh on October 2, while Amina Bibi is the wife of Hasan Saheb, who was critically injured in the blast and is under treatment at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. The two suspected militants were killed and another was injured when an explosion occurred in a house inhabited by them on Thursday. According to police officials, large number of watch dials, SIM cards, and other tools required to make improvised explosive devices were found in the house. Owner of the two-storey house, Hasan Chowdhury, who lives in another house across the road, said he had given the first floor to Shakil Ahmed, the deceased, on a monthly rent of Rs 4,700 but he did not know the identity of the two others.
