Justice VR Krishna Iyer passes away

New Delhi, Dec 05 (ANI): Legendary jurist VR Krishna Iyer, who made judicial activism respectable, died at Kochi hospital after a lifetime spent fighting for human rights and justice for the weak. The former Supreme Court judge was in hospital for a week for age-related complications and pneumonia and the cause of the death was renal and cardiac failure. The funeral will be held here at 6 pm on Friday. Krishna Iyer is survived by two sons. Iyer was born on November 15, 1915. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respect to Iyer. He tweeted saying, _Fine lawyer, eminent jurist, incredible philosopher and above all a phenomenal human being. I bow to Justice Krishna Iyer. My association with Justice Krishna Iyer was special. My mind goes back to our conversations and the insightful letters he would write to me. Whenever I would meet or talk to him, I would find him full of enthusiasm, always talking about the well-being of India. A remarkable man!,_ he added. Dec 5, 2014

SC directs government to come up with alternative in German language row

New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Centre to come up with an alternative in the German language row. Lawyer Himanshu Sharma said that the SC demanded an alternative from the Centre so that Sanskrit language can be introduced as the third language from the next academic session. Sharma added that the SC has granted a week's time to the Centre to consider its decision and to consider introduction of Sanskrit as the third language in the next academic session. Nov 28, 2014
