New Delhi, Dec 19 (ANI): Bangladesh President, Abdul Hamid, met Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Friday. Hamid is on a six-day visit to India to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries. He is visiting India on an invitation by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, who visited Bangladesh in March 2013. President Hamid is scheduled to meet Indian leadership including Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari. Earlier in the day he also met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.Hamid's visit to India is the first by a ceremonial head of state of Bangladesh since 1972. Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid arrives in New Delhi on official visit

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): President of Bangladesh, Abdul Hamid, arrived in New Delhi on Thursday on a six-day official visit to India. India's President Pranab Mukherjee had invited him to visit India and also to be a guest at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The Bangladeshi President is expected to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari and other senior leaders. He was received at the airport in New Delhi by Junior Foreign Minister, General (retired) V.K. Singh. The Bangladeshi President's visit is expected to contribute to further strengthening and expanding the bilateral relations between the two countries. President Pranab Mukherjee hosts banquet for Vladimir Putin

New Delhi/ Varanasi, Dec 12 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee hosted a banquet in the honour of Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other dignitaries at the President's official residence. Putin, on his official visit to New Delhi for the 15th Annual India-Russia Summit, is accompanied by a 15-member delegation. Earlier, a team of 16 economists from the US met PM Modi and discussed the various facets of the growing economy of India. Modi told the delegation that his focus was to build 'Team India' through a partnership with all state chief ministers and by encouraging and facilitating states to take initiatives for economic growth. Parliament logjam ends after Government agrees to Opposition resolution

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): After a week of Parliament logjam, Rajya Sabha ended the impasse over Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's controversial remarks on Monday after Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari intervened. Rajya Sabha resumed normal functioning during Question Hour after the Government and the opposition leaders agreed to a compromise formula to end the protests. Following the compromise, Ansari made a fresh appeal to "all members of Parliament, ministers and leaders of all political parties to maintain civility at all costs in public discourse". Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu confirming the development said that the impasse over the minister's remark has ended after RS chairperson's intervention and appealed the opposition leaders to co-operate with the government. New Delhi, Dec 06 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tributes to Dr.BR Ambedkar on his Mahaparinirvana Diwas. PM Modi paid floral tributes to Ambedkar outside the Parliament where a event is organized in respect and memory of the architect of the Indian Constitution. President Pranab Mukherjee along with Vice President Hamid Ansari also offered flowers to the statue of Ambedkar.
