New Delhi/Nainital, Jan 11 (ANI): Severe winter has crippled normal life in northern India. Several cities are witnessing poor visibility due to dense fog, resulting in delayed train traffic. Farmers too are bearing the brunt as crops get ruined in the extreme weather conditions. While trains run late, passengers in New Delhi faced inconvenience. Meanwhile, farmers in Haldwani region of Uttarakhand suffer losses worth millions as the extreme weather conditions ruined their crops. Located in the tropics, most of India witnesses a very hot summer and a largely temperate winter. Snowfall in states like Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh has a direct impact in other northern states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Jan 11, 2015

Hosiery factory in Ludhiana catches massive fire, no casualties reported

Ludhiana, Jan 02 (ANI): A massive fire broke out in a hosiery factory in Ludhiana city causing heavy losses, but no casualty was reported. Fifteen fire tenders were rushed to douse the fire which gutted the factory. The fire quickly spread through the five-storey building. Fire officials said no worker was inside the factory when fire broke out. Raj Kumar, a fireman, said it took around five hours to douse the fire. Owner of the factory, Rajiv Kumar said that the fire was massive and loss will be huge. Jan 2, 2015
