Syria: More foreign troops could enter conflict if talks fail

Major powers agreed on 12 February to a pause in combat in Syria, but Russia pressed on with bombing in support of its ally President Bashar al-Assad, who vowed to fight until he regained full control of the country. Ukraine: Four dead after bus runs over land mine

Four Ukrainian civilians were killed when a minivan carrying them drove over a land mine as they waited to cross out of separatist-held territory in eastern Ukraine on 10 February, Ukraines authorities said. Three passengers died instantly and another later from their injuries from the explosion around 12 miles southwest of the rebel-controlled city of Donetsk, with one passenger surviving the blast.
