Sharon Jones, Dap-Kings singer and soul revival icon, dies aged 60

American soul singer Sharon Jones died on 18 November aged 60. Jones had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2013. Jones is famed for her role in the soul revival movement with her band the Dap-Kings. Jones sang for decades in gospel bands but fame finally came in 2002 when Dap-Kings released their debut album. Six more albums followed including the Grammy-nominated Give the People What they Want in 2014. On social media, thousands of fans paid tribute to the singer and her incredible voice. Nov 19, 2016

Monroe, one of the 20th centurys most famous sex symbols wore the dress as she sang ‘Happy Birthday to You’ to Kennedy in an impromptu performance on 19 May 1962 at fundraiser for the Democratic Party in Madison Square Garden in New York. Kanye West aggravated fans and reportedly prompted some to leave his San Jose show on 17 November as he went off on a lengthy political rant. West told the audience he didn’t vote in the 8 November presidential election, but if he had, he would have voted for Donald Trump. He argued that his support for Trump didnt mean he didn’t support women’s rights or the Black Lives Matter movement, as the video here shows, though he told the crowd that black people should talk less about race.
