Saradha Scam: Madan Mitra sent to CBI custody till December 16

Kolkata, Dec 13 (ANI): Trinamool Congress leader Madan Mitra has reportedly been sent to CBI custody till Dec 16 in connection with the Saradha scam case. He was produced in Alipore court on Saturday, a day after the CBI arrested him. Mitra, however, termed his arrest as a political conspiracy. Earlier, supporters of the Yuva Trinamool Congress blocked the vehicle in which he was being taken and threw flowers on his car. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that Mitra will remain the transport minister and she would handle the ministry in his absence. On Friday, Banerjee sparked a controversy after backing the senior TMC leader. She said that Mitra's arrest was unconstitutional and slammed the CBI and BJP government at the Centre, accusing them of conspiring against her party. Dec 13, 2014

Pak arrests 58 Indian fishermen for illegal fishing in their territorial waters

Karachi, Dec 12 (ANI): Pakistan maritime authorities arrested fifty eight Indian fishermen and took into custody their ten boats for illegal fishing in the country's territorial waters, police said. The fishermen, who were arrested on Wednesday, had been handed over to Docks Police Station in Karachi for necessary legal action. The arrested fishermen have been charged under Foreign Act and Fisheries Act. Fishermen from both the countries frequently stray into each other territory and end up spending years in their jails. In May, Pakistan had freed 151 Indian fishermen ahead of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's visit to India to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony. Reactions flow after govt bans Uber services in Delhi

New Delhi/ Mathura, Dec 09 (ANI): Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday (December 09) summoned chief executive officer (India operations) of Uber cab service to interrogate him about the alleged rape incident and its services in India. The arrested driver, Shiv Kumar Yadav was remanded in custody for three days. He was arrested on charges of raping a woman three years ago but was later acquitted, police said. DCW chief Barkha Shukla said that they will find out how the cab service entered India. BJD leader Jay Panda said no taxi service should be singled out.
