Thane/ Hodal, Sep 25 (ANI): NCP leader Jitendra Awhad on Thursday filed his nomination papers from Thane constituency of Maharashtra. Accompanied by party supporters with full celebrations and frolic, Awhad reached the election commission office to file the papers. Meanwhile, Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda, present at Hodal constituency of Haryana, said that state Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is all set to file his nomination papers from Rohtak constituency on Friday. Police barricade roads as RLD supporters converge for Mahapanchayat

New Delhi, Sep 23 (ANI): Police on Tuesday barricaded several roads in the Lutyens zone and shut down Race Course metro station to prevent protesters from reaching 12 Tughlaq Road bungalow for a mahapanchayat at the venue. The protesters who were supporters of RLD Chief Ajit Singh demanded the Tughlaq Road bungalow to be converted into a memorial of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. Security has been tightened near the bunglow to avoid any untoward incident. Police had also showcased a notice saying that the gathering was "illegal" and all those trying to participate in the 'Jat Mahapanchayt' will be detained. Later, police detained the protesters. Allahabad, Sep 22 (ANI): The supporters of Varun Gandhi on Monday pelted stones at the house of BJP MP Shyama Charan Gupta, who had criticised Women & Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi for pitching in for her son as the Uttar Pradesh chief minister. Gupta's statement has infuriated Varun's supporters who burnt his effigy and also pelted stones at his residence. The protesters also shouted slogans and tore the posters outside his residence in Allahabad. They also demanded an apology from Gupta for his statement. Ajit Singh meets injured protesters in hospital, asks govt to push up CC Singh memorial issue

New Delhi/ Ghaziabad, Sep 19 (ANI): RLD Chief Ajit Singh on Friday reached the hospital in Ghaziabad where his supporters who got injured during a protest yesterday are admitted. Singh visited to meet the injured supporters of the party. Earlier on Thursday, about 200 Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Bharatiya Kishan Union workers blocked traffic on National Highway-58 and tried to disrupt the water supply from Muradnagar to Sonia Vihar in Delhi. Singh said that it should be seen that the issue is pushed forward by the government. Meanwhile, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that any government building cannot be turned into memorial as per the Supreme Court's order. He also said that Congress should have addressed the issue during their tenure. Reacting on the same, Singh said that Naidu should look at other such instances. Sep 19, 2014
