Rampur, Jan 14 (ANI): Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was taken into judicial custody in Rampur on Wednesday for alleged poll code violation. Naqvi's arrest took place after a local court in Rampur sentenced him to one year in jail for violating the Model Code of Conduct during the 2009 general elections. However, Naqvi was later released on bail. An FIR had been registered against Naqvi and his supporters during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections in Rampur. Naqvi had allegedly breached the prohibitory orders in force and barged into a police station along with his party workers at Patwai area of Rampur parliamentary constituency while campaigning for the 2009 Lok Sabha polls. Kolkata, Jan 10 (ANI): An Indian court sent six accused for gang raping a 23-year-old Japanese student to jail till January 16 for further interrogation, said defence counsel in Kolkata. Kolkata police busted a racket of tour guides, who duped Japanese students and tourists. Three tour guides lured a Japanese student and took her to Gaya city of Bihar, where they were joined by three more people, and then gang-raped her and looted her of rupees 25,000 (USD 395.44). The Japanese tourist alleged that she was raped on November 23, 2014 and a complaint was filed on November 26 in Kolkata city. Lakhvi granted bail in kidnapping case but likely to remain in custody under MPO

Islamabad, Jan 09 (ANI): The alleged mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi has been granted bail by Islamabad's lower court in the six year old kidnapping case against surety bonds worth 2,00,000 rupees but he is unlikely to be released as he was detained in Adiala Jail under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) for a month. However, Lakhvi may be released after completion of the time period for his detention at Adiala jail. According to media reports, Lakhvi's counsel argued at the civil court of Mian Azhar Nadeem that his client was wrongly booked in the kidnapping case. New Delhi, Jan 02 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Friday after Lashkar-e-Toiba operative and 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi was sent to 14 days' judicial custody. The decision came after Pakistan government moved the Supreme Court earlier on Thursday protesting the detention suspension order issued by the Islamabad high court.
