Bangladesh celebrates its 43rd Independence Day

Dhaka, Mar 30 (ANI): Bangladesh celebrated its 43rd independence day in a grand, memorable and historic manner. More than 2 hundred thousand people from various walks of life including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came together in Dhaka to collectively sing the national anthem ‘Aamar Sonar Bangla’. On 26 March 1971 the independence of Bangladesh was declared by the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Liberation War began. The people of the country are now seeking a ban on the Jamaat-e-Islami for its involvement in crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War. The young generation in Bangladesh clearly wants a government and a society that promotes pluralistic Bengali culture not hatred. Progressive Bangladeshis believe that continuing to allow the Jamaat to participate in political activism is an abuse of the very principles on which Bangladesh was formed. Mar 30, 2014

Badalta Manzar (March 06, 2014): An independent news report on Jammu and Kashmir

Following the state government’s decision to set up new administrative units in both Jammu and Kashmir, the Kangan tehsil in district Ganderbal has been given the status of a sub-district. It will be now have almost all administrative offices, including the office of a sub- district magistrate. The aim of setting up these new units is to provide justice at the doorstep of the common man. Tirshi village, about 12 km from district headquarter Udhampur, has not got electricity since independence. People here, especially the students, face many problems due to the non-availability of electricity. The state government is building a new indoor and outdoor sports stadium in Rajouri, but the incomplete stadium is a cause of concern to sportspersons in the area. Mar 6, 2014
