US President Obama and PM Modi attends "At Home" Reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi, Jan 26 (ANI): US President Barack Obama along with First Lady Michelle Obama on Monday attended the "At Home" Reception, which was hosted by President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The reception was also attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, and Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Manmohan Singh and wife Gursharan Kaur also met Barack and Michelle Obama. Obama and Modi interacted with the guests and dignitaries present at the reception. Obama was also seeing engaged in a conversation with Modi. US President Barack Obama is on a three-day visit to India. New Delhi, Jan 26 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee presented the prestigious Ashok Chakra award to the families of Major Mukund Varadarajan and Naik Neeraj Kumar Singh on the 66th Republic Day here on Monday. The Republic Day celebrations started with the unfurling of the national flag by the President. Thereafter, the national anthem was played and President Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Barack Obama and Vice President Hamid Ansari and other dignitaries paid respect to the tri-coloured flag. The Ashok Chakra award, which was conferred to Major Mukund Varadarajan and Naik Neeraj Kumar Singh posthumously, is given for the 'most conspicuous bravery or some daring or pre-eminent valour or self-sacrifice' other than in the face of the enemy. PM Modi, US President arrives for Republic Day celebrations at Rajpath, salutes to Indian flag

New Delhi, Jan 26 (ANI): Even as rain continues to try dampen the enthusiasm for the Republic Day parade, none seems to get on to the celebrations of the day on Monday. The day started with the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rajpath where he met Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. The Prime Minister later met Vice President Hamid Ansari and greeted him along with other union ministers present at the venue. Following the same, arrived the chief guest for the day US President Barack Obama who arrived at the venue amidst much cheer from the crowd. Obama was accompanied by elegant American first lady Michelle Obama. He is the first US president to be the chief guest at the Republic Day. New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): The Rajya Sabha, on Monday adopted a resolution condemning a Pakistan court's decision to grant bail to Mumbai attacks mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi. There has been widespread protests in India after Lahkhvi was granted bail, two days after Peshawar school attack which killed 132 children and nine staff members. Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari, condemned Pakistan government's attitude leading to Lakhvi's bail as he read out the resolution, passed unanimously by the House. Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid offers prayers at Sufi saint shrine in Ajmer

Ajmer, Dec 22 (ANI): Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid offered prayers at the historic 13th century shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer in Rajasthan. Security arrangements in the city were beefed up during his visit in wake of Peshawar attack. Hamid arrived by a special helicopter and headed straight to the shrine.
