PM Modi meets Myanmar's Vice President Sai Mauk Kham to improve bilateral relations

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Vice President of Myanmar, Sai Mauk Kham met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. Kham arrived in India on Monday on a five day visit to improve the bilateral relations between the two countries. Accompanying Kham on his visit is a high-level delegation of cabinet ministers and senior officials Through this visit, both the countries are aiming to improve physical connectivity and economic links. Reportedly India is keen on expanding its commercial footprint across Myanmar. Kham is scheduled to hold meetings with other top leaders of India including President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. Kolkata, Jan 16 (ANI): Lawyer Subhrojit Bahaduri filed a petition on Friday Kolkata High Court seeking removal of Madan Mitra from the post of state Transport Minister as he is in jail in the Saradha chit fund case. He cannot also perform his duties as a minister from behind the bars, the petitioner said. Stating that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has not yet removed Mitra from her Cabinet, the petitioner requested for the court's intervention to direct the state government to remove Mitra. Centre removes DRDO chief Avinash Chander

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): The government has removed Defence Research and Development Organization Director General Avinash Chander from his post, 15 months before his contract was to end. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi "approved the termination" of the contract of Avinash Chander with effect from January 31, an official notification said. Chander was Secretary, Defence Research and Development-cum-Director General, DRDO and Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister. He had retired on November 30 last year after he turned 64, but was given a contract for 18 months till May 31 next year.
