Devendra Fadnavis takes oath as Maharashtra CM

Mumbai, Oct 31 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the 23rd Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Friday (October 31). The oath taking ceremony was held in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was the first time that a Chief Minister's oath taking ceremony was being held in a stadium. BJP core committee members Eknath Khadse, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Vinod Tawde, Pankaja Munde, former Mumbai BJP president Prakash Mehta, Palghar district tribal leader Vishnu Sawra, and Chandrakant Patil also took oath as cabinet ministers. Dilip Kamble and Vidya Thakur were sworn in as ministers of state. The ceremony was attended by close to 30, 000 people including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu and BJP senior leader LK Advani. Oct 31, 2014

Maharashtra CM designate Fadnavis participates in 'Run for Unity' event

Ahmedabad/ Mumbai/ Raipur, Oct 31 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister designate Devendra Fadnavis participated in the 'Run for Unity' marathon near Hotel Trident on Friday. Governor C Vidyasagar Rao flagged off the event which was also attended by Union Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar. Fadnavis, who will be sworn-in as the first BJP Chief Minister of Maharashtra today, said he was ready to take forward Prime Minister Modi's message of unity in the country. He also lauded Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his enormous contribution towards the unity and integrity of the nation. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh also flagged of the 'Run for Unity' programme in Raipur. New Delhi, Oct 27 (ANI): Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, on Monday (October 27), said that people of the country should be informed about climate change as they were good in acclimatizing with the weather. While addressing a workshop on 'scaling-up good practices for climate change adaptation' in New Delhi, Javadekar said that another term was being added to the minister, 'climate change' and the country was serious about the matter.
