Jati Umra, Amritsar, Dec 16 (ANI): Shahbaz Sharif, chief of Pakistan's Punjab, called for peaceful solution of issues between India and Pakistan during a visit to his ancestral village and Golden Temple in India's Punjab. Addressing the villagers, Sharif called for fostering the bond of friendship and love between the neighbours. After visiting his village, Sharif offered prayers at the Golden Temple. Sharif was accompanied by his Indian counterpart Parkash Singh Badal and they are likely to ink an agreement to identify mutual areas of interest and cooperation. Dec 16, 2013

Sankararaman murder case: Kanchi Sankaracharya, 22 others acquitted

Puducherry, Nov 27 (ANI): All the accused in the Sankararaman murder case including Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati have been acquitted by the Puducherry principal and district sessions court on Wednesday. The trial ran for over nine years. The court acquitted all the accused saying the complainant failed to support the prosecution. Sankararaman, the manager of the Varadarajaperumal temple in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, was allegedly murdered on September 3, 2004, in the temple premises. Sankararaman had allegedly written several letters to publications claiming that the Kanchi mutt had deteriorated ever since Jayendra Saraswati had taken over. He had also alleged misuse of funds in his letters, some of them to the pontiff himself. Nov 27, 2013

The incident came forward in Neemach town of the province on Sunday when children complained of severe diarrhoea and vomiting after consuming contaminated food at a community lunch.
