Goa, June 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday sailed on the INS Vikramaditya, formidable aircraft carrier and the largest warship of the Indian Navy, off the coast of Goa today. Modi, who travelled for the first time outside Delhi since taking oath on May 26, landed in Goa around 10 am. Modi will witness air power demonstration by various naval aircraft, including MiG 29K, Sea Harriers, P-8I long-range maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft, Dorniers, Kamov and Sea King helicopters. Kudankulam anti-nuke federation rubbishes IBs allegation of Greenpeace stalling development

Chennai, June 13 (ANI): People's movement against nuclear energy, Kudankulam anti-nuke federation, slammed the Indian Intelligence Bureau (IB) for leveling foreign funding allegations in its report submitted to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The IB, in its report on June 03, has described the Greenpeace, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), as 'a threat to national economic security' and has claimed that there could be negative implications of the NGOs' role on GDP growth ranging from 2-3 per cent per annum. The report said that foreign funded NGOs negatively impact economic development in the country, while citing activities ranging from protests against nuclear and coal plants and funding of sympathetic research. Speaking in Chennai, Convener of Kudankulam anti-nuke federation, G. Anton Gomez, on Friday questioned the credibility of the report stating that the Kudankulam protest has been a people’s movement ever since its inception. Jun 13, 2014

Defence Minister Arun Jaitley visits Western Naval

Mumbai, June 07 (ANI): Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday visited Western Naval Command to review the operational preparedness. Jaitley may get to see the salvaged INS Sindhurakshak submarine during his visit, which had sunk on August 14 last year after an explosion. During his visit to the Western Command, Jaitley will also commission two fast-attack craft ICGS Achook and ICGS Agrim, of the Indian Coast Guard. This is Jaitley's maiden visit as Defence Minister.
