Huge cache of explosives recovered from poll bound Jharkhand

Latehar, Nov 11 (ANI): Huge cache of explosives was recovered in poll bound red corridor area of Jharkhand in a joint anti-Maoist operation by commandos of paramilitary and special police unit. The explosives were recovered by elite CoBRA commando troops of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Jharkhand ‘Jaguars’ police unit in Latehar district of Jharkhand in a joint exercise. The items recovered in this operation include 1745 detonators, 154 pressure cookers, cortex wires, 4 quintals of urea, gunpowder, three gas cylinder based Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) of 50 kg each and other loose explosives. Superintendent of Police (SP), Latehar, Michael Raj S said that the operation was launched on a tip off intelligence in the Maoist infested area. Raj S also said that the Maoists could have used these explosives to disrupt the upcoming elections and targeted the security forces. Nov 11, 2014

Jammu, Nov 10 (ANI): With growing chill in the air, the secretariat of Jammu and Kashmir moved to its winter capital, Jammu, on Monday (November10) with the ceremonial guard of honour for the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to mark the occasion. The bi-annual practice of shifting the 'Darbar' (Secretariat) between the two capital cities of the state dates back to the 19th century. The government operates from Srinagar during summers and from Jammu in winters. It is estimated that the whole exercise of relocating offices costs the government crores of rupees every year. Srinagar, experiences severe snow covered winters and a pleasant weather in summers, while Jammu city records high temperatures during summer, but is relatively warm in winters. Nov 10, 2014

Visakhapatnam, Nov 10 (ANI): India's Navy Chief Admiral Robin Dhowan met the family of the sailor James Jacob, who was killed in the recent ship accident off the Visakhapatnam coast and assured all possible help to the bereaved. A torpedo recovery vessel sank off India's coastal city of Visakhapatnam killing at least one person. Dhowan promised to extend all help to the family of 26-year-old sailor, James Jacob. Visakhapatnam, Nov 09 (ANI): Indian Navy paid tribute to its sailor who was killed after Torpedo Recovery Vessel sunk off the Visakhapatnam coast during a naval exercise in which four others went missing. Navy performed the last rites of commander Satish Soni by giving him state honour while the bereaved family and friends mourned and offered prayers. Soni’s wife, Sumitha Jayanth offered her last respects at the funeral. A torpedo recovery vessel sank off the coastal city of Visakhapatnam killing at least one person, the navy said on Friday, in the latest accident to raise concerns about the ageing fleet. Four other crew members are missing from the 28 personnel on board when the ship sank late on Thursday (November 06).
