Sleeping for six to eight hours at night cuts heart disease risk

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): A new research by an Indian origin scientist has claimed that sleeping for six to eight hours a night could help cut the risk of heart problems and stroke. Author Dr Saurabh Aggarwal, of Chicago Medical School has found that people who sleep less than six hours a night were twice as likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke, compared to those who sleep between six and eight hours. People who take less sleep also had a two-thirds higher risk of congestive heart failure. However, the research found that sleeping for more than eight hours doubles the risk of angina and increases likelihood of coronary artery disease by 19 percent. Oct 10, 2013

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): As India suffered the steepest cut in the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) revised growth forecasts for the year, BJP leader Yashwant Sinha on Thursday stated that the issue is very serious. He also called Finance Minister P Chidambaram an expert in bringing down growth rates. IMF, in its flagship World Economic Outlook report said that India will grow only 3.8% in the 2013-14 financial year against 5.6% projected in its July forecast, a cut of 1.8 percentage points. Walking one hour per day cuts risk of developing breast cancer by 14 %

New Delhi, Oct 06 (ANI): A new study by an Indian origin researcher has revealed that women can cut their chances of developing breast cancer by walking for an hour each day. The American Cancer Society, which commissioned the study, involved 73,615 postmenopausal women, of whom 4,760 were diagnosed with breast cancer during a 17-year follow-up. It was found that this moderate activity was linked with a 14 per cent lower risk of the disease compared to women who were least active. The researchers found that women taking part in more vigorous activities for an hour a day had a 25 percent lower risk of breast cancer. Oct 6, 2013
