Modi says Varanasi endorsed even his 'silence'

Varanasi, May 18 (ANI): In spiritually charged atmosphere of the temple town of Varanasi, victorious BJP leader Narendra Modi said that he was indebted to people of the town for their love and support even when he was gagged and not allowed to speak to his electorate in the run up to polls. Modi reached the brightly-lit Dashashwamedh Ghat soon after darkness fell. Jostling his way through the enthusiastic crowd of supporters cheering 'NaMo NaMo', the leader reached the banks of Holy Ganges with party chief Rajnath Singh and his aide Amit Shah to participate in the famous Ganga Aarti, the Hindu ceremony of light. After performing all the rituals amidst priests blowing conch shells and ringing holy bells, the firebrand leader addressed the crowd and thanked them for their support. Narendra Modi to attend 'Ganga Aarti' in Varanasi today

Varanasi, May 17 (ANI): A day after the declaration of Lok Sabha election results, BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will on Saturday visit Varanasi to thank people for their support. Varanasi is the second Lok Sabha constituency from which he won handsomely. Party leader said that Modi will fly into the temple town from New Delhi after the BJP's parliamentary board meeting and will reach Varanasi in the evening. Residents of Murshidabad fall sick after consuming temple food

Murshidabad, May 14 (ANI): In a likely case of food poisoning, around 300 residents of Murshidabad district in West Bengal fell sick after consuming food served in a temple, as per reports. Locals said that people who ate the food served as a part of the temple offering started vomiting and started showing dysenteric symptoms. People suffering with stomach infection were admitted to a local hospital and Murshidabad medical college. Jaipur offers prayers for peace on 6th anniversary of 2008 serial blasts

Jaipur, May 14 (ANI): Hailing peace and harmony, the residents of pink city of Jaipur in Rajasthan offered prayers to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the 2008 serial blasts that blew away more than 60 lives in the city. According to official sources, nine bombs exploded in markets and near a temple in Jaipur in a span of fifteen minutes, killing around 60 and wounding over 150 people on May 13, 2008. The residents of the city, on Tuesday, thronged the temple of Lord Hanuman, one of the blast sites, to perform prayers for those killed in the blast and also to hail peace in the city. The blasts triggered a stampede- like situation at the sites, crammed with peak-hour shoppers as panic-stricken people ran helter skelter in search of a safe place. May 14, 2014

Security guards detain one anticipating security threat to Mahabodhi temple

Bodhgaya, May 14 (ANI): The district police of Gaya in Bihar detained a visitor anticipating a security threat over his controversial remark after being barred from entering the Mahabodhi temple premises with his mobile phone. The Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) detained the visitor-a monk, Aanand from Maharashtra, when he insisted on carrying his mobile phone inside the temple premises, despite safety restrictions. He was barred by the security authorities, which led to an altercation and the monk reportedly said that another bomb blast would take place at the temple.
