Highway caves in, causes heavy traffic snarl in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Jan 05 (ANI): Commuters bound for New Delhi from neighbouring Ghaziabad were struck in the middle on Monday (January 5) after a part of a highway caved in due to incessant rains in the past week. National Highway 24 connects New Delhi to Uttar Pradesh. Long queues of traffic stretched several kilometres, causing problems for office-goers. Commuters were seen walking on the highway after discarding public transport buses. Eyewitnesses said the rains had caused waterlogging at the Hindon Bridge on the highway which caved in early morning. Police cordoned off the area and diverted traffic to different routes. Jan 5, 2015
