Stampede victims record their statement in Patna

Patna, Oct 07 (ANI): An enquiry committee conducted an open court hearing for the stampede victims in Patna on Tuesday in which 32 people were killed on the occasion of Dussehra on October 03.Most of the killed were women and a few children. Officials had said the stampede happened as people were leaving at the end of the event. Additional Director General of Police, Gupteshwar Pandey, who was present at the hearing, said they will take any decision only after they have heard the grievances of all the victims. Patna police had said some people reported that had they heard a rumour that a live electric wire had fallen on the public ground and it quickly spread through the crowd, prompting a rush for the gates. Bihar Home Secretary assures thorough probe in Gandhi Maidan stampede

Patna, Oct 4 (ANI): Bihar's Principal Secretary (Home) Amir Subhani on Saturday said a thorough investigation will be conducted to find out the reason for Friday's stampede at the Gandhi Maidan and added that a hearing in this case will take place next Tuesday. Subhani and Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Gupteshwar Pandey have been asked to conduct an inquiry into the stampede. Subhani said the statements of the magistrate and police personnel deployed on duty will be taken separately. Pandey further said that this is an open inquiry. Oct 4, 2014

Kolkata, Sept 23 (ANI): Devout Hindus crowded river banks and priests guided them to perform rituals to pay tribute to their ancestors on Tuesday on the occasion of new moon day in Kolkata. The festive season of Navratri (Nine Nights) embarks from the very next day of this New Moon day in India, according to the Hindu calendar. Thousands of people took a holy dip in river Hooghly, traditionally called 'Ganga’ or Ganges. One of the devotees who flocked to the Hooghly, Dr S Pandey explained why people observe the holy dip on this particular day. Some devouts also tonsured their head as a mark of respect to their ancestors as they prayed for the peace of their souls after taking a dip in the river. ISROs Mars Mission main engine test fire successful

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): ISRO on Monday successfully test fired the main liquid engine of the India’s Mars Orbiter Mission which was dormant from 10 months. Scientist Amitabh Pandey commenting on the success of the fire test said that since the engine was dormant, it needs to be tested so that it can be successfully used on 24th for entering the mars orbit.
