Nepal foreign minister meets Modi to invite him for SAARC meet

New Delhi, Oct 21 (ANI): Nepal Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to invite him for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit meet in Kathmandu. The two-day SAARC summit will begin on November 26. Nepal will chair the regional grouping meet that has Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as its members. As close neighbours, India and Nepal share a unique relationship of friendship and cooperation characterized by open borders and deep-rooted people-to-people contacts of kinship and culture. New Delhi, Oct 20 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met the Foreign Affairs Minister of Nepal Mr Mahendra Bahadur Pandey to hold bilateral talks. Pandey had also met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj earlier in the day. Speaking on the issue of Pakistan supporters protesting against India in London, MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that the issue was raised with the colleagues in UK who assured that such matters should be solved by Pakistan and India itself. Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh also met Germany's Foreign secretary Dr Markus Ederer and a meeting was held between a delegation of leaders from both countries. Oct 20, 2014

Stampede victims record their statement in Patna

Patna, Oct 07 (ANI): An enquiry committee conducted an open court hearing for the stampede victims in Patna on Tuesday in which 32 people were killed on the occasion of Dussehra on October 03.Most of the killed were women and a few children. Officials had said the stampede happened as people were leaving at the end of the event. Additional Director General of Police, Gupteshwar Pandey, who was present at the hearing, said they will take any decision only after they have heard the grievances of all the victims. Patna police had said some people reported that had they heard a rumour that a live electric wire had fallen on the public ground and it quickly spread through the crowd, prompting a rush for the gates.
