India successfully test fires nuclear cruise missile 'Nirbhay'

New Delhi/ Chandipur, Oct 17 (ANI): India on Friday successfully test fired the indigenously developed nuclear capable sub-sonic cruise missile 'Nirbhay' at the Integrated Missile Test Range near Balasore in Odisha. Proving a host of technologies and bridging the critical gap in the country's arsenal, the missile was test fired from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur for a distance of about 1,000 km. Cruise missile 'Nirbhay' can strike targets more than 700 kms away. This was the second test firing attempt. The missile had failed in its debut attempt which was made last year. Security Expert US Rathore said that the test fire of the cruise missile 'Nirbhay' was very important for India. Akbaruddin added that India would not tolerate violence at the de-facto border dividing two nuclear armed neighbours. Canada foreign minister meets Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday and met his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj for a discussion on Canada-India relations to strengthen bilateral economic ties between the two countries. Baird also commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child at a school in the national capital. Rajouri, Oct 10 (ANI): Schools along border in Rajouri district of Kashmir have been closed down amid continuous shelling. Police said that parents are not sending their children to school due to fear of firing along the fence. Almost 20,000 Indian civilians have fled their homes in the lowlands around Jammu region to escape the fighting, taking refuge in schools and relief camps. On the Pakistan side of the border, villagers moved among piles of debris from walls and roofs of their homes destroyed by mortar shells. India held a meeting on Wednesday of its top security officials to discuss how to handle the conflict. Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has called a similar meeting on Friday.
