Dussehra brings Hindus and Muslims together

Aligarh, Oct 21 (ANI): India is a land of colourful and festive hues. And Dussehra is one such festival that is celebrated in the country with great fervour and enthusiasm. Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami celebrates the victory of good over evil. Hindus observe the day through special prayer meetings and food offerings to the goddess Durga, who is considered as Shakti or cosmic energy. Legend has it, when demon King, Mahishasur, vanquished the gods, their king, Indra, approached the Holy Trinity, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. They in turn sought the help of the divine mother Durga who, equipped with lethal weapons fought with Mahishasur for nine days and nights and eventually killed him on the tenth day. And thus every year, people across the country celebrate the day as Dusshera. Be it Jammu & Kashmir or Uttar Pradesh, everywhere goddess Durga bind together Hindus and Muslims with the thread of communal amity. Muslims in Aligarh make the effigies of goddess Durga with equal fervour and devotion. Dusshera in Doda region of Jammu & Kashmir is celebrated in different manner. As the occasion is also believed to be the day when Lord Rama vanquished the ten-headed demon king Ravana. Hyderabad, Oct 10 (ANI): TRS leader KT Rama Rao slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and said that he has been working against the formation of separate Telangana. The TRS has also called for President’s rule in the state. TRS also urged Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan to dismiss Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister from his post. TRS floor leader in the Legislative Assembly E Rajender alleged that Reddy is biased against Telangana and was trying to stall the formation of the separate state. The TRS leaders claimed that Reddy's handling of the strike and agitation by pro-united Andhra employees in support of united Andhra goes on to prove his alleged bias. Oct 10, 2013
