Britain Deputy PM Nick Clegg meets PM Narendra Modi and Jaitley on his 3-days India visit

New Delhi, Aug 25 (ANI): Britain's Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Monday. He also met Finance and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley following the same. Clegg is on a three days visit with an aim to bolster trade and strategic ties with India. His visit is intended to yield any immediate deals between the two governments, but is rather seen as the dawn of a long-term British strategy to focus relations with India on economic exchanges. Earlier, Clegg visited holy Sikh temple Bangla Sahib in the national capital. After offering prayers at the temple and taking a tour of the museum inside the temple premises, Clegg hailed the members of the Sikh community for their welcoming attitude to people of other faiths. New Delhi/ Bhopal, Aug 25 (ANI): Political leaders on Monday blamed the Madhya Pradesh government for lack of safety measures which led to stampede at Kamtanath Pahad Temple in Chitrakoot. At least 10 people were killed in the temple stampede that took place early morning and officials say the death toll is to increase further. At least 10 people killed in stampede at Kamtanath Pahad Temple in MP

Chitrakoot, Aug 25 (ANI): Ten pilgrims were killed and over 60 are believed to have suffered injuries in a stampede early on Monday at Kamtanath Pahad Temple, about 80 kms away from Satna district headquarters, on the Madhya Pradesh - Uttar Pradesh border. The stampede took place at about 6 am today, as devotees crowded Kamtanath temple in Chitrakoot for a festival called the Somvati Amavasya. The stampede occurred during 'Shayana Pradakshinam' which is done in a lying posture. District officials fear the number of dead and injured could rise and said five of those killed were women. It Happens: Devotees go in trance during religious festival in Assam

Guwahati, August 22 (ANI): Devotees from various parts of the country thronged temple of Hindu goddess Kamakhya in Assam to witness three-day Hindu festival, Deodhani dance. The Deodhani dance festival is held to worship Hindu snake goddess Mansa, during which goats and pigeons are sacrificed. Deodhani dance is a semi-classical dance form, which is common across the southwest Kamrup and Mangaidoi parts of Assam. The devotees participating in the festival go through a month-long preparatory phase, during which they are not permitted to meet their families and have to stay in the temple premises with a photograph of the deity they want to represent. They also seek knowledge from their religious mentors during this period. It is believed that Hindu goddess possesses a devotee’s body during the festival to dance. As per Hindu mythology, one’s wishes come true if they wish for something special during the festival. It is believed that taking part in this festival bestows the dancers with powers from goddess Kamakhya.
