Guwahati, Aug 20 (ANI): Devotees from various parts of the country thronged temple of Hindu goddess Kamakhya in Assam to witness three-day Hindu festival, Deodhani dance. The Deodhani dance festival is held to worship Hindu snake goddess Mansa, during which goats and pigeons are sacrificed. It is believed that Hindu goddess possesses a devotee's body during the festival to dance. As per Hindu mythology, one's wishes come true if they wish for something special during the festival. Navroz, the New Year in the Persian calendar, is also referred to as Persian New Year. As a part of their tradition and custom known as spring clean, the Parsi community clean their homes and make preparations to welcome the new spring season with freshness. A visitor to the fire temple in Surat, Mahrooq, explained in detail the activities carried out in the day and how the Parsi community celebrates the festival. Nargis Broacha, a Zoroastrian woman in Nagpur, said the preparation start 10 days in advance for the New Year. Varanasi, Aug 10 (ANI): A supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Virbhadra Nishad complained of non-payment of pension to old people in Uttar Pradesh. The government of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh has stopped provision of pension to the old people after BJP won in the state. Virbhadra Nishad, a boatman, was one of the people who proposed Modi's nomination from temple town Varanasi for the general elections. He was also a constant supporter of the nationalist leader during the elections. However, Nishad complained that the state government of Samajwadi Party has ceased to pay due amount of pension despite him suffering from critical health conditions.
