UN expects EU’s refugee flow to top 1m in 2015

Refugees and migrants are likely to keep coming to Europe at a rate of up to 5,000 per day via Turkey this winter, the United Nations said on Thursday (5 November), meaning that more than a million people will have fled to the continent this year. About 760,000 people have already crossed the Mediterranean in 2015, mainly to Greece and Italy, after fleeing wars in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as conflicts in Africa. Nov 5, 2015

Hundreds protest David Cameron’s welcome of Egypt’s President Sisi to UK

Hundreds gathered outside Downing Street in London on Wednesday (4 November) to protest against the visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Sisi, who launched the toughest crackdown on Islamists in Egypts modern history after toppling President Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood, met Prime Minister David Cameron to boost the countries ties.
