Nawaz Sharif, Nepal PM and Afghanistan President arrive in Delhi

New Delhi, May 26 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif landed in India's national capital to attend Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony scheduled to be held on Monday evening. Modi will take oath as the new prime minister of India in the presence of all SAARC nations. Sharif is accompanied by a 14 member delegation and is guarded by around 8-10 Pakistan elite commandos considering the high-level threat he faces. Before leaving from Lahore, Sharif said that he was "carrying a message of peace to India." Meanwhile, Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai also arrived in Delhi to attend Modi's swearing in ceremony. May 26, 2014

Bhutan PM andBangladesh Speaker arrive in New Delhi for Modi's oath ceremony

New Delhi, May 25 (ANI): Leaders of SAARC nations started arriving in India's capital New Delhi on Sunday to attend PM designate Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony to be held on May 26. Speaker of the Bangladesh National Parliament, Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhary arrived with a delegation to attend the ceremony. Chaudhary was warmly received and welcomed at the airport by Sripriya Ranganathan, Joint Secretary (BM) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Also, Bhutan Prime Minister H.E. Lyonchen Tshering Tobgay arrived in New Delhi to be present at the ceremony. Prime minister designate Narendra Modi in a first of kind has invited all the heads of State from SAARC nations to attend his swearing-in ceremony on May 26. Sarabjit Singh's family expresses displeasure over Nawaz Sharif's visit to India

Jalandhar, May 25 (ANI): Family of dead Indian prisoner, Sarabjit Singh, expressed displeasure over the move of inviting the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to attend the swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi. Modi had sent an invite to all SAARC member nations for his swearing-in ceremony on May 26. The members include Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif accepted the invitation on Saturday. Meanwhile, Sarabjit Singh's sister Dalbir Kaur said that Modi should have demanded justice for the Indian prisoners languishing in Pakistani jails first, rather than sending an invitation for his swearing-in ceremony. Echoing similar views, Sarabjit Singh's daughter, Swapandeep Kaur said the move was disheartening for the family as well as all those whose near ones are still held in Pakistan prisons for no fault of theirs. MEA confirms Sharif's attendance for Modi's oath taking ceremony

New Delhi, May 24 (ANI): MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin on Saturday confirmed that Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would attend the swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi. Akbaruddin, said that all eight countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) would be present for the august event. MEA briefs about Afghanistan attack and invitation to SAARC leaders

New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin on Friday briefed about the attack on Indian envoy in Afghanistan and strongly condemned it. He also said that the entire situation is being analyzed. He added that Afghanistan PM Hamid Karzai had spoken to Indian PM-designate Narendra Modi and assured him of all possible efforts to protect Indian missions there. Akbaruddin then, highlighting the invitation of SAARC nation leaders to Narendra Modi's oath ceremony, said that invitations were sent to 8 nations out of which Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Mauritius have confirmed and response is still awaited from Pakistan.
