New Delhi/ Mumbai, June 12 (ANI): Residents of Delhi and Noida finally got relief from the blistering heat on Thursday as strong winds and heavy rain lashed the city. Some parts in Noida witnessed a hailstorm as well. The showers brought much needed relief from the heat wave aggravated by power cuts in the national capital. The mercury reached a 62-year-high of 47.8 degrees Celsius June 8 in certain parts of the national capital. Meanwhile, Mumbai also witnessed high tides with just a few days left for the monsoon to hit the western metropolis. The high tides also led to water-logging in low lying areas of Mumbai on Thursday. TPDDL in Delhi claims to meet cent percent electricity demand

New Delhi, June 11 (ANI): Power distribution company in Delhi, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) has claimed to have met 100 percent electricity demands in its jurisdiction despite reports of prolonged power cuts in the city during scorching summer heat. TPDDL, which supplies power to nearly 30 percent of residents in north and northeast Delhi, said there was no load shedding. Earlier on Tuesday, Junior Power Minister Piyush Goyal blamed previous Congress party-led government in the city and said that dilapidated power grids could not cope with extra electricity needed to meet demand, leading to more power cuts.
