New land acquisition law to protect farmers: Jairam Ramesh

New Delhi/Noida, Sep 19 (ANI): India's rural development minister Jairam Ramesh has said that the recently enacted Land Acquisition law would protect the rights of the farmers who were rendered landless. He stated this while addressing a news conference at Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi on Thursday. Muzaffarnagar: Police fail to arrest BJP MLA booked for triggering violence

Dehradun, Sep 15 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh police unsuccessfully tried to nab BJP legislator Bharatendra Singh for his alleged role in triggering the communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar district of UP. Singh's supporters prevented his arrest after he was booked by the police along with four other BJP legislators, contending that the police have no arrest warrant. Singh had allegedly made a provocative speech at a farmers' gathering, named Khap Panchayat that led to communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar.
