People in Ludhiana participate in walkathon to spread cancer awareness

Ludhiana, Oct 26 (ANI): A cancer awareness walkathon was organised in Ludhiana on Sunday to encourage people to undertake timely medical check-up to ascertain early detection of the disease. The walkathon, in its second year, is an initiative of a non-governmental organisation, Can Fight Cancer (CFC). Over 1000 people walked nearly 2.5 kilometres to show solidarity with cancer patients, cancer survivors, caregivers and medical professionals, who were also present among the crowd to make the event a success. Musical performances also enthralled the participants and caught the attention of more people. A member of CFC, Tarun Nayyar, said it is imperative to make people aware that cancer is curable. PM Modi inaugurates Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital

Mumbai, Oct 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. The hospital, in its 90th year, has been completely rebuilt by Reliance Foundation, into a modern 19-storey tower with two heritage wings. The foundation is headed by Nita Ambani. For the first time, the hospital has collaboration with America's most renowned institutes like Johns Hopkins, MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Massachusetts General Hospital and University of Southern California. The hospital will reserve a fifth of its capacity for the underprivileged and provide 10 percent beds for free to the needy and another 10 percent at subsidised rates. Celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, ShahRukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Sachin Tendulkar among many others were also present during the inauguration. New Delhi, 24 Oct (ANI) : Christian Bale will play the role of Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic, it has been reported. Aaron Sorkin, who will helm the project, said that he was a phenomenal person and they needed the best artist to play this extremely difficult role, media reported. The film would reportedly be based on the ' Steve Jobs' biography by Walter Isaacson, which the late Jobs sanctioned. The Apple co-founder died in 2011 following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Hyderabad, Oct 16 (ANI): Ten-year-old terminally ill Sadiq always wanted to catch thieves and uphold the rule of law and his dream came true when Hyderabad Police Commisisoner Mahender Reddy handed over his position to him for a day. Sadiq dreamt of sitting on the Police Commissioner’s chair at his desk, sign important files, and give instructions to the orderlies. Clad in a khadi colour uniform and a cap, Sadiq beamed up with joy. Sadiq, who hails from Karimnagar, is suffering from blood cancer and wanted to be police commissioner.
