Nepal foreign minister expresses need for an anthem to connect SAARC nations

Kathmandu, June 06 (ANI): A delegation of artists has proposed a song written by the Indian poet-diplomat to Nepal Abhay K which has been sung by various Nepali artists to be chosen as the formal SAARC anthem. They met the Nepal foreign minister Mahendra Pandey in Kathmandu. The minister said that efforts will be made for strengthening the people-to-people relationship between SAARC countries. Meanwhile, Nepal foreign minister said that the song has to be presented formally in the upcoming SAARC summit before it is approved unanimously as the formal SAARC anthem. New Delhi, May 27 (ANI): A day after he took oath as the 15th prime minister of India, Narendra Modi held "courtesy meetings" with leaders of SAARC countries. Modi greeted Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who arrived first at the Hyderabad House where the two leaders shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. Later in the day, Modi met Maldives President Abdulla Yameen, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay, Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam and Nepal PM Sushil Koirala. His most significant meeting was with Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif. The series of meetings will end with Modi receiving Bangladesh Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.
