Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrives in India for two-day visit

Gaya, Oct 27 (ANI): Vietnam's Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, arrived in India on Monday to enhance ties and regional cooperation and began his two-day visit by landing in Bihar. Dung, who was accompanied by a 50-member delegation, was received by Bihar Chief Minister, Jitan Ram Manjhi, in Gaya city. During his visit in the state, Dung will pay homage at Mahabodhi temple in holy town of Bodh Gaya, where Lord Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment. He would also visit the Vietnam Buddhism Pagoda in the town. Both the countries could sign at least a dozen pacts to boost cooperation in sectors like energy, infrastructure, trade and tourism. Dung will hold talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and other leaders. Khandwa, Oct 27 (ANI): At least eight persons, including three women and two children, were killed when a jeep collided head on with a truck in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. In the head-on collision, eight others received serious injuries. The injured people were rushed to a nearest hospital. The passengers were going to visit Omkareshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh. People light over one lakh earthen lamps, pray for world peace

Gorakhpur, Oct 25 (ANI): Scores of Hindu devotees gathered at a river bank in Uttar Pradesh to light over one lakh earthen oil lamps and prayed for world peace and prosperity of citizens. The lighting of earthen lamps was done after Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Devotees congregated at the Surajkund temple in Gorakhpur and prayed for brotherhood among people. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Rama, was believed to have rested at this temple site with his consort Sita on their way back from Lanka after defeating Ravana. The temple was illuminated with lights as earthen lamps were placed on the steps. It is a century old custom, organized with the aim to purify the atmosphere and keep the surroundings clean.
