Meerut/ Muzaffarnagar/ Lucknow, Dec 02 (ANI): Agitated farmers blocked roads in various sugarcane producing districts of Uttar Pradesh demanding re-functioning of sugar mills and clearance of farmers' dues, thereby disrupting normal life. Farmers blocked key routes, including the national highway, after a cane farmer committed suicide that led to violent protest. General Secretary of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Jayant Chaudhary claimed that the agitation was a success. This is one of the oldest trade fairs, promoting farm produce, handicrafts and handlooms. The annual trade fair was inaugurated by Chief Minister of India's Himachal Pradesh, Virbhadra Singh in Rampur with much fanfare. This four-day trade fair, which is organised in November every year, is said to be 500 years old and the provincial government also refers it to as an International Trade Fair.
