Kochi Airport on high alert after bomb threat

Kochi, Oct 24 (ANI): Kerala's Kochi Airport has been put on high alert on the orders of the Airports Authority of India following receipt of a bomb threat. Earlier Friday morning, the police received a call stating that a bomb is being carried by a passenger in an Air India flight arriving from Ahmedabad. Maoists in red corridor of Bokaro blow up railway track, disrupting train network

Bokaro, Ramgarh, Oct 21 (ANI): Maoists blew up a portion of a railway track in the red corridor of Bokaro district in Jharkhand disrupting the train services. As per the police, the rebels destroyed about 1.5 meter track due to which the passenger trains were held up at different points. Divisional railway manager, BK Singh, said the train service will resume soon after restoration work will be completed. Meanwhile, police also recovered a 15 kilogram can bomb hidden below an over-bridge on NH-2 at Chittarpur. In-charge of the Rajrappa Police Station Lileshwar Mahto said the police received information from the villagers and immediately took action about it. India beefs up security along Nepal border region in wake of Burdwan blast

Siliguri, Burdwan, Oct 21 (ANI): Paramilitary, 'Sashastra Seema Bal' (SSB), beefed up security in the areas along the Nepal border in wake of the bomb blast in Burdwan district. The explosion in Burdwan district of West Bengal on October 02 had left two suspected militants dead, while the city court has sent three accused in police custody till October 22. Two women were also arrested in connection with the blast on October 05. The involvement of militant outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba and Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami are being suspected in the case as a large number of watch dials, SIM cards, and other tools required to make improvised explosive devices were found in the house. Speaking to mediapersons, Director General of SSB, Ranidanga North Bengal frontier head quarter, BD Sharma, said that many criminal activities were taking place along the border area, which is a threat to India's security. More than 70 crude bombs found in West Bengal

Malda, Oct 18 (ANI): The Crime Investigation Department (CID) recovered more than 70 crude bombs from a field in Malda district of West Bengal. This recovery comes after two suspected militants were killed and another was injured in the explosion which occurred on October 02 at a house in Khagragarh area of Burdwan district in the state. Two women were arrested in connection with the blast on October 05. The involvement of militant outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami are being suspected in the blast. Also, a joint team of the National Security Guard (NSG) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday recovered ammunition in large quantities from a house in the state. Superintendent of Police (SP) from Malda District, Prasun Banerjee, said that during a raid by the Kaliachok police, they had found material which resembled bombs. Burdwan, Oct 17 (ANI): Commandos of National Security Guard (NSG) defused over 40 hand grenades and bombs that were found in Burdwan district of West Bengal on Friday. A joint team of the NSG and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday recovered the ammunition in large quantities from a house in the district. Apart from grenades, the team recovered five socket bombs also from the house of one Rizwan Sheikh. This recovery comes after two suspected militants were killed and another was injured in the explosion which occurred on October 02 at a house in Khagragarh area of the district. The involvement of militant outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba and Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami are being suspected in the blast. Dhaka, Oct 17 (ANI): Bangladeshi human rights activist and journalist Shahriar Kabir said that India is turning into a safe haven for militant groups, especially Jamaat-e-Islami. Kabir was speaking at a seminar on international terrorism organised by the Forum for Secular Bangladesh and Trail of the War Criminals in Dhaka. The speakers expressed concern about the recent militancy activities by Jamaat-e-Islami in India with reference to the bomb blast in Burdwan district in West Bengal during the festival of Durga Puja on October 02. The speakers urged that government of India and Bangladesh should take strict actions to prevent such militancy activities in both the nations and they also rooted for a task force to be made along with other regional countries of South Asia.
