AAP shuns reports of internal rift, terms it as 'difference of opinion'

New Delhi, March 01 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Anand Kumar on Sunday refuted the reports of a rift within the party, adding that what was widely being seen as an internal 'cold war' was merely a difference of opinion. He further said that the party is united against corruption. Earlier, senior AAP leader Admiral L Ramdas had written a letter to party Chief Arvind Kejriwal as well as party members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, expressing concern over the growing divide and trust within the party. Ramdas, in his letter, reportedly sought to draw the attention of the founding members to the importance of 'internal unity' and appealed for a quick resolution. Mar 1, 2015

Water tanker mows down two people in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Feb 27 (ANI): Two people were killed when a water tanker travelling at a high speed knocked down pedestrians and a stationary motorcycle at a traffic signal in Bengaluru. The accident, which took place near a mall on Bangalore International Airport Road was caught in a CCTV camera near the site. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of East Traffic Division, MNBR Prasad, confirmed two deaths. The driver of the tanker has been arrested and was produced before the magistrate, Prasad informed. The pedestrian, identified as Arpitha, succumbed to her injuries in the hospital while another person riding pillion on a motorcycle, Anand, died on the spot. Ordinances cannot bypass Parliament: Jaitley on Land Acquisition

New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday said that Ordinances and laws cannot bypass the Parliament adding that the government was well within its rights to take the Ordinance route, amidst an uproar in the Rajya Sabha over the Land Acquisition Bill. Congress leader Anand Sharma, however, shot back saying Jaitley expected the Parliament to rubber stamp the Ordinances. The government is today introducing the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, 2015 in the Parliament to replace the Land Acquisition Ordinance. The government had last year in December circulated the ordinance which had brought changes in the previous bill passed in 2013 by the UPA regime. Earlier in the day, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge had termed the Land Acquisition Bill as 'anti-farmer' and added that his party will counter it tooth and nail by taking support from all the opposition parties.
