India and Bangladesh officials conduct joint border survey in Tripura

Tripura, March 07 (ANI): A Bangladesh team led by Md Abdul Mannan, Director General of Bangladesh’s Department of Land Records and Survey, was in India to carry out a joint border survey with their Indian counterparts. The Indian team was led by the Director of the Survey of India, NR Biswal. They surveyed some 200 kms of the international boundary, including few disputed points like Kamalasagar, Kaiyerdhepha and Akhaura land port areas, and also finalised the location of the new subsidiary border pillars. The teams had earlier visited a few spots in Sylhet District of Bangladesh. India shares a 4,096 km long border with Bangladesh, the longest boundary it has with any of its neighbors. Mar 7, 2014

FIFA officials visit Kolkata to inspect venue for under-17 Football World Cup

Kolkata, March 01 (ANI): FIFA officials visited the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata to inspect the venue for the under-17 Football World Cup. In a press conference in Kolkata, FIFA delegation chief, Inaki Alvarez, said the purpose of the team’s visit was to carefully survey the facilities to be provided to the players. Expressing his satisfaction with the Salt Lake Stadium, he further said that the stadium has all the space required. The visit to the Salt Lake Stadium makes it the eighth venue in India inspected by a FIFA team so far. Kejriwal raises questions on Opinion Polls

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and AAP chief on Wednesday said that his party has been saying that there is an opinion poll scam and a sting operation conducted by a news channel proved it right. The sting operation claimed that some of the agencies which conduct opinion polls before elections are willing to twist their findings for money. Kejriwal also said that every week there is an opinion poll and asked that how such a huge survey is done within a week. He further said that a special investigative team should verify the tapes and if they are genuine then strict action needs to be taken. India, Bangladesh demarcate disputed border

Agartala, Feb 21 (ANI): India, Bangladesh officials demarcated the disputed border in Tripura after four days of meticulous work and expressed satisfaction. The teams from both the countries visited the bordering areas of Kashba, Kaiyardepha and Akhaura and located 250 new subsidiary border pillars, which have been newly constructed. The demarcation would help guards in manning the border, expedite various construction activities such as fencing and lighting and making of water pump houses. Director General of Bangladesh Department of Land Record and Survey (DLRS), Mohammed Abdul Mannan, said that his team had carried out the mandate given by two governments. Transparency International rejects AAP's claim on 'reduction in corruption' survey

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): Global corruption watchdog Transparency International (TI) Executive Director Ashutosh Kumar Mishra on Tuesday rejected AAP's claim that corruption has come down in Delhi based on an 'unpublished report'. Former chief minister of national capital Arvind Kejriwal had claimed during a CII meet that he had come to know that Transparency International is set to release a report which says that corruption is down in the Delhi Jal Board. Mishra said that they have neither done any such survey, nor are they planning for the same. He also said that it is impractical as any such survey takes months.
