Rajkot/Patna, Jan 24 (ANI): Pet lovers were infused with enthusiasm and thronged a dog show with their respective canines. A dog show was organised in Rajkot city of India's western Gujarat province in which around 550 dogs of 26 different breeds took part. The main aim of the dog show was to inform people about different breeds of dogs and which ones can be kept as pet. Various breeds such as Labrador, Golden retriever, Saint Bernard, Pugs, Lhasa Apso, bullmastiff, etc competed with each other during the show. There were several stalls set up to provide information about the medicines given to dogs. Manipur, Jan 24 (ANI): People in Imphal city of India's northeastern Manipur province got a glimpse of their traditional art and culture as they thronged a nine-day theatre festival in the region. The rich history and culture of the province is being shown through different plays during the 'Khundongbam Brojendro Theatre Festival', attracting prominent artists and theatre groups from across the country. The festival is an initiative of the Khundongbam Brojendro Cultural Trust in collaboration with Department of Arts and Culture, provincial government of Manipur. This is the third edition of festival based on the theme-'Theatre for peace and Friendship'. Besides local theatre groups, the festival also registered the participation of theatre groups from India's IT hub, Bangalore city. A play 'Bor Interview' written by Khundongbam Brojendro and directed by O Joykumar was staged by the Rupmahal Theatre group on the inaugural day of the festival. Kochi, Jan 17 (ANI): It was a visual treat for nature lovers at the annual flower show in Kochi city of India's southern Kerala province which concluded on a colourful note. The annual flower show, which kicked-off on January 08, saw participation of exhibitors from different parts of India who showcased different varieties of flowers. People were seen enjoying the show and clicking photographs of different varieties of blooming flowers like chrysanthemum, marigold, orchids, etc. The organizers said that nearly 1,500 rose varieties, 1,000 anthurium varieties, 1,000 orchids, dahlia petunia, gerbera and salvia were put on display. Patna, Jan 10 (ANI): Devotees from the Sikh community revelled in festive spirit, as thousands thronged Sikh house of worship, gurdwaras, across India on Tuesday to mark the 346th birth anniversary of their tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh. Despite the bone chilling cold, devout Sikhs gathered at Takhat Patna Sahib in Patna city of India's eastern Bihar state to seek blessings from Guru Gobind Singh, where the tenth Sikh Guru was born in 1666. Every year, thousands of Sikh devotees from across the world also throng the most revered site, the Golden Temple, also known as Harminder Sahib in Amritsar city of northern Punjab province. Devout Sikhs were seen taking bath in the holy pond in the temple premises and offered prayers before the holy book. A procession was also taken out which is marked by the carrying of the Holy Scripture 'Guru Granth Sahib' in a decorated chariot. Goa, Jan 3 (ANI): Popular Disc Jockeys (DJs) from Russia and Sweden said that music is developing in India as people thronged a musical festival in western Goa province. Swedish DJ, Albin Myers, and Hard Rock Sofa, a popular Russian duet performed at a music festival. The young crowd danced and cheered to the beats at Candolim Beach in the province. Indian DJ-VJ Nikhil Chinapa, who is the director of this five-day music festival, said that the festival aimed to "restore the spirit of community" and "passion for music" that has been so elusive lately owing to the sudden explosion of electronic music. Bhubaneswar, Dec 27 (ANI): The eighth edition of annual crafts fair in eastern province of Odisha has become an open forum for weavers, artisans, painters and sculptors as more than 300 participants are displaying their craftsmanship at the event. The Toshali National Crafts Mela (fair) - 2013 is being held in eastern Bhubaneswar city in Odisha. The annual fair started its first edition in 2006 with an aim to bring the economically deprived weavers and artisans to limelight and provide them exposure to showcase their talent. This year, the fair revolves around the theme 'Symphony in Tassar', which depicts the state's tasar (a variety of silk) tradition, unveiling the process of the tasar production to finished products. The visitors at the fair are also fascinated by the new ideas and products being incorporated at the event this year. The fair is also hosting cultural programmes, where eminent artists and troupes from different parts of the country are performing.
