Faridabad, Oct 22 (ANI): At least five people were injured when massive fire broke out in a crackers market, gutting more than 150 shops in Faridabad. At least 10 vehicles were burnt in the inferno. Loud explosions were heard for about 15 minutes at the ground, where the cracker market is organized every year during Diwali. In order to bring cheer to their dark world, many visually impaired children have learnt the craft of making lamps and candles to showcase their capabilities and achievements despite the disability. In holy town Varanasi, many visually impaired children have made beautiful and colourful assortment of earthen lamps and candles in various shapes and sizes ahead of Diwali. This empowers the visually impaired and let share the spirit of Diwali with everyone. The children of a school for the visually impaired started the preparations a month back. Meanwhile, in Assam, disabled children part of a non-governmental organization in Guwahati, also made earthen lamps decorated with glitter and painted in fabric colours. Oct 22, 2014

As per Hindu tradition, Dhanteras is considered highly auspicious for buying gold or silver. It is believed that any new venture undertaken on this day guarantees good results. Gold jewellery sales also doubled in Rajkot city of Gujarat as shoppers thronged markets ahead of Diwali.
