New Delhi, Feb 06 (ANI): US Ambassador to India, Richard Verma said that both countries should bring energy and persistence to overcome the obstacles towards achieving the shared objectives agreed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Barack Obama. Verma added that leaders had set the tone and it was up to rest of them to take the relationship forward that involves Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar and his team, cabinets, bureaucracies and national security teams. The January 25 announcement by Obama and Modi followed six weeks of intensive talks, but few details were released beyond a framework based on India's acceptance of the principle that plant operators should bear primary liability in the event of a nuclear disaster. Pakistani envoy hopes to bolster fragile ties with India through trade

New Delhi, Feb 03 (ANI): Pakistan ambassador to India, Abdul Basit hoped that some progress in trade ties between the two countries would help bolster a fragile peace process between the nuclear armed neighbours. Basit said that India needs to be flexible when it comes to Pakistan in terms of non-tariff barriers to trade. Basit also accused India of hardening its stand on Jammu and Kashmir when bilateral trade between the countries had seen a rise. Pakistan, Feb 2 (ANI): Pakistan on Monday (February 02) conducted a successful flight test of the indigenously-developed, Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) "Ra'ad". With a range of 350 km, the Ra'ad missile enables Pakistan to achieve strategic standoff capability on land and at sea. The state of the art Ra'ad Cruise Missile was built with "Cruise Technology" which is extremely complex and has been developed by only a few countries in the world, the media wing of the military said in a statement. The state of the art Ra'ad Cruise Missile with Stealth Capabilities is a low altitude, terrain-hugging missile with high maneuverability, and it can deliver nuclear and conventional warheads with pin point accuracy, the statement said. China opens additional route to Kailash-Mansarovar in Tibet: MEA

Beijing, Feb 02 (ANI): China agreed to open an additional route to Hindu pilgrimage in Tibet through Nathu La pass, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin during Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj visit to Beijing. Akbaruddin said devotees could undertake more comfortable journey by vans and busses to Kailash-Mansarovar, where Lord Shiva is believed to be residing in perpetual meditation state along with his wife Parvati. Swaraj and her Chinese counterpart decided to set up a contact group to discuss the modalities of Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit to Beijing later this year. Swarajs trip comes just days after US President Barack Obama's unprecedented second visit to India that concluded with nuclear deal and defence co-operation between the two countries that evoked considerable concern from China.
