Carnival showcases culture of the northeastern region in New Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 22 (ANI): Under the theme of "connecting people, celebrating life" a two-day-long Northeast carnival festival was held at the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts in New Delhi. The event not only showcased the culture and traditions of the region but also aimed to create awareness about the region, its prospects and potentials. The festival was organised by Trend MMS, with support from the eight northeastern states, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of DoNER. As part of the event there were discussions on security, tourism opportunities, employment options and various other issues that affect people of the region. Boxing icon MC Mary Kom from Manipur and star Adil Hussain from Assam attended the event. The major attraction at the venue was the Food Zone where people of the region put up their traditional food stalls. Delhites got a chance to enjoy some delicious food. Nov 22, 2013

Dharamshala, Nov 8 (ANI): As a mark of tribute, India's northern Dharamshala town organises a new concept of fusion arts performance in a one -hour cultural event during which an artist paints on stage along with the recitation of poems and singing of songs composed by the jailed Tibetan artists. Hundreds of Tibetans enjoyed a great performance by various poets, singers and painters who left them mesmerized by their performance. Contemporary painter Karma Sichoe painted on a white canvas as singers and poets entertained the audience with music and songs composed by exiled Tibetans at the special Lhakar evening. Lhakar is often translated as 'White Wednesday' as Tibetans in Tibet and around the world highlight Wednesday as the Soul-Day of their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, by celebrating various aspects of Tibetan culture. Village In Kerala Pledges To Donate Organs

Kochi, Nov 8 (ANI): The residents of an obscure village in Alappuzha district of Kerala have vowed to donate their organs after death, in order to set an example to others in mass organ donation. The organ donation move was initiated by members of a village sports club named 'Pranamam Arts and Sports Club', after a local died recently after suffering from a renal disease and could not be treated due to financial constraints. Though initially everyone was hesitant about donating their organs, the support of public representatives and political leaders helped the residents come forward for this gesture.
