The festival witnessed 11 richly caparisoned elephants, decorated with gold ornaments, and divided into two groups in the Attukal temple premises, amid drumbeats and frenzied shouts of devotees. Elephants form a major part of religious festivals in Kerala. In this annual festival, women from all walks of life, gather at the temple and perform a ritual of offering rice cooked in earthen pots to seek the blessings of the goddess. People dressed in bright and colourful attire enthralled the audience with their dance and musical performances at the Kalachakra grounds where Bodh Mahotsav 2014 is being held. The province of Bihar has been celebrating Bodh Mahotsav on a large scale since 1998 and the spectacular cultural show is attended by people from India and abroad as well.
