Jaipur, Feb 21 (ANI): A royal wedding between two Hindu families settled in India and Pakistan seeks to bridge gap in the otherwise frosty relations between the two nuclear neighbours. At a grand wedding function, Kunwar Karni Singh Sodha of Amarkot (now Umerkot) district of Sindh in Pakistan tied the nuptial knot with Padmini Rathore of Kanota royal family of Jaipur district of Rajasthan. More than 100 relatives and friends of the bridegroom from Pakistan travelled across the border to attend the special alliance of former royals in India's Rajasthan. Maithripala Sirisena visits Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya

Bodh Gaya, Feb 17 (ANI): Sri Lankan President, Maithripala Sirisena, on Tuesday (February 17) visited one of the holiest Buddhist sites in India, where Lord Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment. He paid floral tributes to Lord Buddha statue in the Mahabodhi Temple. The Sri Lankan President also prayed under the Bodhi tree, a sacred fig near the Mahabodhi Temple which is said to be a descendent of the one Buddha sat under for three days and nights in the sixth century BC, before finding enlightenment. Sirisena, who is in India for a four-day visit, signed a nuclear energy agreement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. This is Sirisena’s first visit abroad after he assumed office last month by defeating his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa in a hotly contested elections. Feb 17, 2015

Amritsar, Feb 17 (ANI): Pakistan released 173 Indian prisoners, mostly fishermen. As the released men repatriated to the Indian Territory through Wagah border in Punjab, many touched their country's soil with forehead. The fishermen were arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters. India shares an expansive oceanic border with Pakistan without any perceptible demarcation and fishermen on both sides ignore rules while netting their catch. Tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors have recently escalated over cross-border firing in the region, giving rise to serious concerns about the security of the region. Reactions come in over India's nuclear deal with Sri Lanka

New Delhi/ Chennai, Feb 17 (ANI): Congress party took a dig at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party after the Narendra Modi-led government signed a nuclear energy agreement with Sri Lanka. This deal is India's first breakthrough with the new government of the tiny Indian Ocean island where China has been building ports and highways in a diplomatic push in recent years. Under the deal, India will help Sri Lanka build its nuclear energy infrastructure, including training of personnel, the Indian foreign ministry said. Later, India could also sell light small-scale nuclear reactors to Sri Lanka which wants to establish 600 MW of nuclear capacity by 2030, a Sri Lankan official and an Indian analyst said earlier.
