India steps up security in border towns ahead of Republic Day

Amritsar, Jan 17 (ANI): Security has been tightened across India ahead of Republic Day's celebrations on January 26. Extra vigil is being mounted at border towns as Indian security agencies fear militant attacks from across the border ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit to the country. Obama will be the first US President to attend a Republic Day celebration. He is the only US President to visit the country twice while in office. Security stepped up in Kashmir ahead of Obama's visit

Srinagar, Jan 16 (ANI): Security has been strengthened in Jammu and Kashmir in view of US President Barack Obama's visit later in January for Republic Day celebrations. Inspector General of paramilitary Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF), SK Bhandari, said that the force was leaving no stone unturned to ensure full-proof security. Bhandari said infiltration bids are likely to rise in the state ahead of the high-profile visit. Reportedly, the security forces on Friday captured a dreaded terrorist belonging to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) from Choora area in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore district. The LeT militant, identified as Abu Mawya, was reportedly hiding inside the house of a Sarpanch in the Choora locality from where he was arrested by the Special Operation Group. Jan 16, 2015
