Security arrangement in place in Bodh Gaya, says Bihar DGP

Bodh Gaya, Dec 28 (ANI): Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar, PK Thakur visited holy town Bodh Gaya to monitor security measures. Security has been tightened at holy Buddhist shrine Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya after the recent Taliban attack in a school in Peshawar. The DGP took stock of the situation in and around the temple and expressed satisfaction with the security. The holy shrine was last year in July hit by a series of bomb blasts that were described as “terror” attacks by the government. Two people were injured. The Mahabodhi Temple complex is the place where the Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment. Buddhist scriptures describe Bodh Gaya as the "Navel of the Earth", where pilgrims and tourists from Sri Lanka, China, Japan and the entire of southeastern Asia throng to this holiest of Buddhist shrines every year. Lucknow, Dec 27 (ANI): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday sought fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim's extradition after a tape claimed his presence in Karachi. Tapes broadcast by news website newsmobile.in alleged that Dawood, accused of being involved in 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, was running and expanding his business empire from his hideout. India has claimed that Pakistan continues to provide safe haven to suspected Dawood Ibrahim to further its proxy war but Pakistan denies it. Grenade blast in Imphal injures at least four

Imphal, Dec 27 (ANI): At least four people were injured in a grenade blast on Friday in Imphal, Manipur. The blast took place at around 5.30 pm when an unidentified person hurled a grenade in front of an office 'Angels Digital Media Service'. The injured, who were inside the shop at the time of blast, sustained minor injuries. Security personnel rushed at the site and investigation is underway. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet. On December 21, three people were killed and four sustained injuries in a bomb explosion in Imphal. Sanjay Dutt watches comedy-drama 'PK'

Mumbai, Dec 26 (ANI): Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is out of jail on a 14-day furlough while serving sentence in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case, watched the much awaited Bollywood comedy-drama 'PK' starring superstar Aamir Khan on Thursday in India's showbiz capital Mumbai. Sanjay also has a guest appearance in the film. He is currently serving a five-year jail term after he was convicted in the Mumbai blasts in which over 350 people were killed. He was accused of possessing an AK-56 rifle. On Thursday, Sanjay, along with his wife Maanyata and children Iqra and Shahraan, attended the special screening of the film, arranged by director of 'PK' Rajkumar Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Aamir Khan, who played the pivotal character in the film, also watched the movie with Sanjay. 'PK' was released on 19th December 2014. Dec 26, 2014

Blast rocks Imphal again, none injured

Imphal, Dec 25 (ANI): A powerful IED went off near a post of India’s paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) in Imphal, Manipur on Wednesday (December 24). Witnesses said nobody was injured in the blast. Police suspect the IED was equipped with a timer device. The blast occurred just a kilometre away from the 49 BSF Post located at Laikoiching area. BSF contingent, which was on a routine patrol, had a miraculous escape as the blast took place minutes after it went past the post. So, far no group has claimed responsibility for the blast and the motive behind it is not known yet. Sanjay Dutt accused in Mumbai blast out on 14-day furlough

Mumbai, Dec 24 (ANI): Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is serving sentence in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case, was released from the Yerwada Central Jail in Pune on Wednesday. Dutt was granted 14-day furlough by the prison authorities on Tuesday. After being released, the actor departed for his home in Mumbai in the afternoon. Dutt, who is serving a five-year sentence for illegal possession and destruction of an AK-56 rifle before the 1993 Mumbai blasts, had applied for leave in November this year to be able to spend Christmas and New Year with his family. Fourteen-day furlough can be extended for another two weeks and with strong reason, can even be stretched for 120 days. The initial two-week furlough, available annually, is counted as part of the prison term. Dec 24, 2014
