SC refuses to interfere with Bombay High Court order that stays Maratha reservation

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to interfere with the order of the Bombay High Court which stayed the move to grant 16 per cent reservation to Marathas in public service and educational institutions in Maharashtra. Earlier, the Bombay HC had cancelled the previous Congress-NCP government's decision of giving 16 percent reservation for Marathas. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had later advocated for Maratha reservation and approached the Supreme Court. The court said that it will take decision after listening to all the pending petitions. SC extends stay on execution of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday further extended the stay on the execution of Yakub Abdul Razak Memon, lone death row convict in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. The court issued notices to STF Maharashtra and CBI on Memon's plea seeking review of death penalty in the blasts case. The court had on March 21, 2013, upheld the death sentence of Memon. At least 257 people were killed in 13 blasts at several Mumbai landmarks, including the Bombay Stock Exchange, a popular cinema and two crowded markets. Dec 10, 2014
