Badalta Manzar (Feb 13, 2014): An independent news report on Jammu and Kashmir

Numbers of remote and far flung villages in kathua district have no resources of safe water supplied by Government Public Health department and are fully dependent on natural resources like borewell, springs, well, along with nullah and rivers which are not safe for consumption and are not good for health. To sort out the grievances of rural areas, the National Development Foundation, Jammu with support from Communication and Capacity Development Unit, Water and Sanitation Support organization, Deptt. of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control organized “ Advocacy Workshop for Media and allied Departments” to create mass awareness among people to get them checked up with testing lab. The government school in Rajouri district lacks basic facilities that are needed to create a suitable atmosphere for education. In the modern times, when electricity has become a necessity in every home to commence the day to day chores, people here are still reeling under darkness. The residents of aalosa village in Bandipora district are facing major power shortage with electricity playing hide and seek every day. Feb 13, 2014

Fast food not major cause behind childhood obesity

New Delhi, Jan 17 (ANI): A new study has found that fast food consumption may not be the major factor in the rapid increase in childhood obesity. The study found that fast-food consumption is simply a byproduct of a much bigger problem: poor all-day-long dietary habits that originate in children's homes. The study was produced by researchers at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Gillings School of Global Public Health. The study's researchers found that children's consumption of fast food is only a small part of a much more pervasive dietary pattern that is fostered at an early age by children's parents and caregivers.
