Politicians condemn abduction of Indian worker in Afghanistan, press for speedy release

Chennai, June 07 (ANI): Political fraternity condemned the abduction of an Indian aid worker in Afghanistan, and pressed the government to expedite action for his safe release. Cutting across party lines, the leaders from various political parties urged the government to speed up the process for the release of priest Alexis Prem Kumar, who was kidnapped in Herat province of Afghanistan, earlier this month. Leaders made personal appeal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to talk tough with Afghanistan government and press for safe release of the abducted priest. Meanwhile, CPI leader D Raja said that the abduction was human rights violations and the central government should work towards the release of the priest at the earliest. Echoing similar sentiments, Senior Congress leader, Digvijay Singh said the Modi government should take every possible measure for the release of the worker. Jun 7, 2014

Indian aid worker abducted in Afghanistan

New Delhi, June 03 (ANI): External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that Militants abducted an Indian aid worker in Herat city of Afghanistan. Akbaruddin said that the Indian national who was working with a non governmental organization (NGO) in the education sector and the Consulate in Herat is in constant touch with the Afghanistan government. Chennai, May 21 (ANI): DMK leader TKS Elangovan said the state chief and supremo of regional AIADMK J Jayalalitha is making mockery of democracy after the latter sacked four district secretaries in charge of three constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Spokesperson of DMK, Elangovan said on Tuesday (May 20) that such actions display total failure of governance in the province. The district secretaries shunted out were of Dharmapuri, Kanyakumari and Thiruvallur where the party couldn’t win.
