Siliguri, Aug 07 (ANI): Inadequate rainfall and weak monsoon in West Bengal has affected the farming of and left the farmers worried in its Pasidewa block in Darjeeling district. Every year, by this time, the state witnesses good rainfall but many districts are still reeling under weak monsoon, making it difficult for the paddy cultivation. Ambegaon, Aug 04 (ANI): The government of Maharashtra evacuated a village anticipating landslide, considering the deadly disaster in Malin district of the state that claimed more than 90 human lives. The decision was taken up with the aim of preventing further loss of human lives in the disaster prone areas. Villagers of Kalewadi village seeing the cracks in the land of the village and the walls of their houses immediately complied with the government and evacuated their houses. Politicos react as govt puts field trials of GM crops on hold

New Delhi, July 30 (ANI): Politicos on Wednesday stated that the Modi government should think in the interest of the farmers and not the foreign firms that would be benefitting from the adaption of the GM crops. Earlier on Tuesday, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar had said that the field trial of 15 genetically modified (GM) crops approved recently by the Genetic Engineering Approval Committee (GEAC) is just a recommendation and no decision has been taken yet on the contentious issue. Apparently, the Modi government is coming under pressure from the RSS, as two outfits linked to the Sangh have now demanded that the Centre put a ban on field trials of the GM crops.
