Police say religious riots killed atleast 32 in Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar, Sep 10 (ANI): Police said on Tuesday that at least 32 people were killed in religious riots in Uttar Pradesh that forced hundreds to flee their homes, a sign of rising tension between two communities ahead of a general election due by May. Police also evacuated villagers in the troubled areas. Some locals, fearful after attackers beat children and burned property, hid in fields and police stations, or fled in ox carts and tractors. Additional Director General of Police (law and order), Arun Kumar, said that around 160 people were arrested.
