Castmembers from “Saturday Night Live” have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to legendary announcer Don Pardo – who passed away in his sleep at the age of 96. Don had been the iconic voice of the sketch comedy show since it began in 1975. Even after retiring from NBC in 2004, he continued to provide the introductions to SNL. More than 100 children hospitalized after eating I Day sweets given at Govt schools in Kanpur

Chaubepur, Aug 15 (ANI): About 450 students fell ill of which nearly 100 were hospitalized on Friday after consuming sweets distributed at government schools in Kanpur’s Chaubepur area. The students are being treated at the local hospital and the matter is being examined closely. DM of Kanpur, Roshan Jacob said that all efforts are being made to avoid casualties. She added that the sweet shop from where the sweets were ordered has been sealed and samples are being taken for examination. Aug 15, 2014

Rava Laddu Ingredients Rava (Semolina) - 1 cup Milk - 2 tbsp Sugar -3/4 cup Ghee - 1/2 cup Raisins Cashew nuts Cardamom powder a pinch Method: 1. In a pan add ghee, once the ghee turns hot roast cashew nuts and raisins. Keep it aside. 2. Add the remaining ghee & Roast the rava until you get a roasted aroma & it is turning lightly golden. 3. Once Rava roasted add Sugar & mix it well. Add Roasted cashew nuts, raisins & cardamom powder & mix it well. 4. Turn off the stove, add 2 tbsp of milk & mix it well. Allow it to cool slightly. Once cooled rolling in to laddu. Nainital, Aug 13 (ANI): A fruit processing unit in hill town of Nainital in Uttarakhand has become a popular name by producing a variety of products from apples and savouring the taste buds. The owner of 'Fruitage', Sanjeev Bhagat said that for the past 20 years the fruit processing unit has been producing a great variety of pickles, juices, squash, jams, chutney and sweet jam pickles 'murabbaa' from as many as 20 variety of apples, which are liked by people across the nation. The unit is primarily run by women workers, who are involved in multiple tasks, right from peeling the apples to boiling them, sweetening them, making different products out of them and packaging as well. The unit is also known for providing employment opportunities to women. The products made out of apples at the fruit processing unit are gaining popularity among tourists as well. Aug 13, 2014

Electric rickshaw operators protest Delhi High Court's ban

New Delhi, Aug 06 (ANI): Drivers of electric rickshaws converged at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Wednesday to protest against Delhi High Court's decision of banning them. The High Court intervened after a child died on July 30 as he fell from his mother's lap into a frying pan of a sweet shop after the woman was hit by an e-rickshaw. The tragic incident sparked a furious debate between political parties on regularization of the e-rickshaws in the national capital. Delhi High Court on July 31 directed the Delhi government to stop e-rickshaws from running on city roads till the next hearing on August 14. Vice-chairman of Battery Rickshaw Welfare Association, Chaudhary Ishwar Singh, said they had assembled to protest the ban and request the court to let rickshaws ply until government submits its proposed guidelines on regulating them.
