Politicos condemn explosion in Kolkata

New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): Political leaders on Tuesday (November 11) condemned the deteriorating security in Kolkata city following an explosion near the office of federal counter-terror intelligence agency. A senior police official investigating the incident said no trace of explosive had been found in the area near the National Investigation Agency (NIA) office in the city. An interior ministry official had said according to preliminary information nobody had been injured. The official, who did not wish to be named, said the ministry planned to send a team from Delhi to investigate the matter. Newly-appointed Minister of State for parliamentary affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, called the incident unfortunate. Congress leader Rashid Alvi, demanded a thorough investigation in the case. Explosion near NIA Office in Kolkata

Kolkata, Nov 11 (ANI): A small explosion occurred near the office of National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Kolkata, police and interior office officials said. An officer at the police control room in Kolkata said the cause of the blast at the NIA office had not yet been established. Interior ministry official said preliminary information was that nobody had been injured. The NIA is currently investigating an earlier explosion in Burdwan, near Kolkata in October, that the agency believes was a botched plot by Bangladeshi Islamist militants to kill Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. A Kolkata court on Sunday gave the NIA custody of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) commander Sajid, a Bangladeshi national who West Bengal police arrested on Saturday in connection with the blast. Tribal women encourage youngsters in Tripura to save indigenous art

Tripura, Nov 06 (ANI): Tribal womenfolk encourage youngsters to save indigenous art and spread the rich culture of handmade textiles of Tripura. Realising the looming threat of their art falling into oblivion, a tribal woman, Smriti Rekha Chakma, established a small training centre to save the dying art. Chakma said that the whole idea was to inspire the new generation to learn about the rich culture of the state. Meanwhile, another tribal woman, Pramita Chakma, said that unfortunately the Chakma society has adapted to western attire which is comparatively cheaper than the indigenous one. Each tribal community in Tripura owns a handloom and designs colourful material. Chakma tribal women cover their lower body with a length of cloth wrapped around the waist the ends of which are unstitched, while the upper garment is also stitched out of handloom woven cloth.
